Funding approved for Interreg North-West Europe tidal energy showcase project

Inyanga Marine Energy Group is delighted to be one of the project partners in the Interreg North-West Europe (NWE) SHINES project, led by Fondation OPEN-C. The project was approved for funding yesterday, 11th December 2024.

SHINES stands for ‘Showcasing Hydrokinetic energy Innovations for Northwest European Energy Sovereignty’. The project will enable a wide uptake of tidal and river energy in the region by replicating and scaling up solutions whose readiness and value have been successfully demonstrated.

The project includes 13 Project Partners and 4 Associated Partners from 6 countries. A spokesperson for Fondation OPEN-C, said:  “We are confident that the enthusiastic and fresh team assembled by SHINES will succeed in our core mission: accelerating the energy transition in a sustainable way!”

Richard Parkinson, CEO of Inyanga Marine Energy Group, said: “This is an exciting and transformational project that will accelerate the commercialisation of tidal energy. We are looking forward to helping turn the ambitious vision for this project into reality.”
